There are now fifteen new Coastal clubs affiliated to Rowing Ireland. In addition there are a further three clubs which practice both river and coastal rowing. Most of these clubs practice the exciting FISA coastal rowing in sliding 1X, 2X and 4X boats which are designed for offshore rowing.
At a recent meeting of these clubs, the delegates present decided that the 2017 Irish Open Coastal Championships will be hosted by Arklow Rowing Club on 9/10th September. In addition a working group was created to organise and develop the sport.
