The 2024 World Rowing Coastal Championships are set to take place from September 6th to 8th in the picturesque coastal city of Genoa, Italy. This year’s event holds special significance, as Genoa has been designated the European Capital of Sport for 2024. With the scenic Bagni San Nazaro Beach serving as the venue, spectators and rowers alike are promised a breathtaking backdrop for what is expected to be an exhilarating weekend of racing.

The Championships will feature races over distances of 4km and 6km, with courses laid out across the open sea, marked by buoys and challenging turning points. These conditions will test the endurance, skill, and strategy of the participating crews, creating a spectacular showcase of coastal rowing. Unlike flatwater rowing, coastal rowing involves navigating the unpredictable waves and currents of the sea, making for high-adrenaline races where anything can happen.

The Championships will host a variety of events across different categories, offering opportunities for both male and female rowers, as well as mixed crews:

CM2x (Coastal Men’s Double Sculls)
CM4x+ (Coastal Men’s Quadruple Sculls with Coxswain)

CW1x (Coastal Women’s Single Sculls)
CW2x (Coastal Women’s Double Sculls)
CW4x+ (Coastal Women’s Quadruple Sculls with Coxswain)

Mixed Events:
CMix2x (Coastal Mixed Double Sculls)
