The 2026 Rowing Ireland 1K Classic, held on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September at Lough Rinn, delivered a busy weekend of racing, with more than 650+ crews taking to the water across two days of competition.
Over ten and a half hours of racing, 127 races took place, with the event benefiting from favourable weather conditions to provide a great weekend of racing for competitors, clubs and supporters.
Enniskillen Royal Boat Club claimed the Victor Ludorum Trophy, finishing on 106 points. Skibbereen Rowing Club took second place with 63 points, while Cork Boat Club finished third on 60 points.
One of the highlights of the weekend came in the first final of the J15 Mixed Octuple, where Skibbereen and Castleconnell produced a closely fought race. Both crews pulled away from the chasing pack at the 500-meter mark. Castelconnell led Skibbereen by a canvas coming into the red buoys. But Skibbereen weren’t finished yet. They went bow ball to bow ball through the last 250 meters, and Skibbereen took the win by 0.2 of a second.
The weekend provided plenty of competitive racing across the programme and showcased the enthusiasm and commitment of clubs and crews who travelled to Lough Rinn for the rescheduled event.
Rowing Ireland would like to thank the 2026 1K Classic organising committee for their work in delivering the event, as well as Leitrim County Council for its support.
Congratulations to all the clubs, crews, volunteers, officials and supporters who contributed to a successful weekend at Lough Rinn.
