Dr Valery Kleshnev, the Russian-born biomechanics expert, visited Rowing Ireland last weekend to do some testing on Rowing Ireland’s High Performance athletes. He spent two days using his BioRow system on various boats and showed the athletes their symmetry, timing, force curve and various other bits of information.
Lead Coach Don McLachlan said: “It was extremely useful to have Valery work with our leading athletes. It backed up the work we’re already doing and gave us a really clear picture of where technical strengths and weaknesses lie and how to set the boats up to create more efficiency. We hope to work with him again in the future.”
Dr Kleshnev is a former rower who won silver for the Soviet Union at the 1980 Moscow Olympics in the quadruple sculls race.
