Athlone Boat Club have been successful in delivering on a strategic objective of building a new state of the art double storey boat house and training facilities on the banks of the Shannon in Athlone, Ireland. The challenges presented due to CV19 have been very difficult both on the construction which is 80% complete and on  fund raising.  The completed development cost is approx. €750,000 which we have funded through LEADER and Sports Capital grants and €100,000 of fund raising and €100,000 of borrowings. We are actively fund raising to reduce our borrowings and have a number of unique initiatives.

We are the proud owners of the boat which the O’Donovan brothers won the 1st ever Rowing Olympic medal for Ireland a piece of Olympic Irish Rowing history.

We are selling tickets on our website www.athloneboatclub.ie for the “Naming Rights” on the boat. The tickets are €20 each and the winner will garner the honour of having their name put on the Olympic boat and be a part of Irish Rowing Olympic History. “
