Bone Health Study – Sport Ireland Institute

10.09.20

The Sport Ireland Institute are conducting a new exciting piece of research in conjunction with the University of Limerick. They need as many athletes as possible to complete a short survey that aims to determine the following:

  1. The extent to which low carbohydrate diets are followed by athletes
  2. How low carbohydrate diets might be associated with bone health and injury in endurance athletes.

The anonymous survey, which can be completed by following the link below, will take 10 – 15 min to complete. The survey is aimed at anyone who has competed at the Irish Rowing Championships or higher.

This survey will form part of and guide the direction of future studies within a larger project so athlete input at this stage is extremely valuable.

The overall goal is to help inform both athletes, coach and practitioner decision making surrounding the use of low carbohydrate diets and bone health.
