It was a busy weekend for Irish rowing, both at home and abroad, as not only did Irish rowers travel to Belgrade in Serbia for World Rowing Cup I, but Irish clubs were also well represented at the London Metropolitan at Dorney Lake as well as the 2018 Carlow Regatta, which both took place on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd June.
Commercial, Shandon, Tribesmen, NUIG, UCC, Castleconnell, UL, St. Michael’s, Trinity, Skibbereen, Queen’s and Neptune were among the clubs taking part in the 2018 London Metropolitan Regatta, with wins across a range of events during the two days. Full results from the weekend’s action can be found here.
Following Carlow Regatta, event secretary Michael Curran thanked all rowers and coaches for their cooperation and getting their crews on time to the start which kept racing on time both days. “We would also like to thank the thirty clubs who entered and hope to see them all along with other clubs back in 2019 when we celebrate our clubs 160th year. I would like to thank past and present members and parents who provided catering and stewarding over the two days, as well as all visiting and home umpires,” he added.
