Are you concerned about the fact that 1 in 2 girls drop out of rowing? Wondering how you can make a difference? Join us for an impactful workshop at Lee Rowing Club on Saturday, September 7th, from 14:00-17:00, and discover the answers!
This essential workshop, developed by Sport Ireland and adapted by Rowing Ireland Coach Education, is a must-attend for all coaches working with teenage girls. You’ll gain crucial insights into the challenges teenage athletes face, inspiring you to take action to keep them engaged and thriving in the sport.
“I left the workshop with a completely new perspective. Understanding the emotional and physical challenges that girls face during their teenage years has transformed how I approach coaching,” said one attendee from our Limerick session.
Male coaches, this is especially important for you. Understanding the unique physical and emotional changes that girls experience during puberty is key to supporting them effectively. This workshop will provide you with the knowledge you need to make a real impact.
“As a male coach, I realised how crucial it is to understand what our female athletes are going through. This workshop opened my eyes and gave me the tools to be a better, more supportive coach,” shared another coach who participated in a previous workshop.
The workshop covers five vital modules:
- Understanding Drop-out and Engagement in Girls’ Rowing and Physical Activity
- Meeting the Psycho-Social Needs of Girls in Rowing
- Coaching Girls Aged 12-17: Body Image & Maturation
- Menstruation and Its Impact on Training
- Preparing for the Challenges of Adolescence in Girls
Supported by the Munster Branch of Rowing Ireland, this initiative is your opportunity to learn, grow, and make a positive change in the lives of young female athletes. Don’t miss out—be part of the solution!
“This workshop isn’t just informative—it’s empowering. It equips you with the tools you need to keep young girls engaged in rowing, which is something we all should strive for,” remarked another coach who found the experience invaluable.
