The Cork Regatta took place this weekend at the National Rowing Centre. After a five-year hiatus due to poor weather conditions, the two-day grand league event was back in full swing with a record number of entries and fantastic weather conditions, making the event even more enjoyable.

Saturday’s racing kicked off with the Men’s Masters 8+ event, which was won by the composite crew from Lee Valley, Shandon, Cork, Fermoy, and Tralee RC. UCD BC M8+ and UGBC W8+ dominated the Division Two eights events, with leads of 9 and 15 seconds respectively in their finals. In small boats, Commercial’s Andrej Liadov and Trinity’s Grace Healy took home the wins in the M1x and W1x events.

On Sunday, Cork Boat Club MS8+ was crowned the Division One eights champion, beating off competition from the 20 other Division One crews entered in the event. UGBC won the women’s 8+ championship, facing strong competition from the intermediate UL crew and Enniskillen’s junior crew in the A final.

After this weekends results, the overall Grand League winner is Neptune RC with 1196 points! Congratulations Neptune!
