The Rowing Ulster Craigavon Lakes Regatta will be held on Saturday 23 June on a 1,000m, 4-lane course at the Craigavon ‘balancing’ lakes, located next to to the Craigavon Civic Centre and Rushmere Shopping Centre.
It is many years since a regatta last took place on the lake and Rowing Ulster is keen to re-establish the event as an annual fixture aimed particularly at the younger Junior and Masters rowing categories. Racing will be organised on a ‘mini’ grand league format with crews competing in heats for places in A, B, C, etc. Finals and events spread over 3 sessions to maximise participation.
The venue offers easy access for boats and competitors and excellent launching facilities. There are also good on-shore amenities for spectators with the nearby Rushmere Shopping Centre and, for those more athletically inclined, the opportunity to follow races from start to finish by bicycle. Rowing Ulster hopes to grow this unique event on Craigavon Lakes to a fully buoyed, 6-lane course with new starting, finishing and other on-shore regatta infrastructure.
Full details of this year’s event are available on the regatta page. You can also stay in touch via our Facebook Page @RowingUlster. Entries close on Wednesday 13 June at 7pm.
