The third and final stage of the 2014 World Rowing Cup series has turned out to be the biggest of the series with nearly 750 athletes from 44 countries set to contest the regatta in Lucerne, Switzerland.
World Rowing Cup III will be raced on Lucerne’s Rotsee regatta course from 11-13 July 2014 with 20 different boat classes contested. Starting with heats on Friday 11 July, the men’s single sculls has the largest field of the regatta with 34 entries.
Our own Sanita Puspure will race in the women’s single sculls where World Champion, Kim Crow (Australia) and World silver medallist, Emma Twigg (New Zealand) will also feature.
Sanita has had a great start to the season winning a silver medal on both days of Piedilcuco regatta, behind 2013 World Champion Donata Vistartaite of Lithuania. She followed through in the European Championships in Belgrade, Serbia with a bronze medal and only less than two seconds separating first and fourth place.
Leonora Kennedy and Lisa Dilleen will race in the women’s pair. They will be keeping a watchful eye on Olympic Champion ‘s and British duo Heather Stanning and Helen Glover who have just returned to racing together after a year apart. Having had another great start to the season with win’s on both days at Piediluco, they have kept form for the season with great races in Belgrade and World Cup II Aiguebelette, France.
We will be watching their progress eagerly over the course of next weekend and we wish all crews the very best of Luck in Lucerne.
