The rescheduled 2018 Dublin Metropolitan Regatta takes place on Saturday 9th June, held on the Poulaphouca Reservoir in Blessington.
The event is also the second of three Grand League events in 2018, the first of which – Skibbereen Regatta (14th-15th April) – was unfortunately cancelled due to unfavourable weather conditions. The final leg will be Cork Regatta later this month (23rd-24th June) at the National Rowing Centre in Cork. The Grand League is the premier rowing league in Ireland and there are some excellent prizes up for grabs for the overall winners, sponsored by Filippi; the winners of each division – Men’s Division 1, Men’s Division 2, Women’s Division 1, Women’s Division 2 – will receive a €300 voucher with Filippi Ireland, while the overall winner will be awarded a €500 voucher. The overall top club winners are determined from accumulated points across all divisions.
This is the 142nd running of Dublin Metropolitan Regatta, with almost 200 crews entered in Saturday’s event, representing 24 Irish rowing clubs and one overseas club (Durham Amateur Rowing Club), and over 7 hours racing scheduled over the day. The race schedule kicks off at 9:30am with single sculls heats, and UCD BC, Commercial RC and Shandon BC will close the day with the exciting Men’s Division 1 eights.
