The winner of the month is Gaye Conway of Enniskillen Royal boat club

Gaye is a paramedic whose daughter began rowing a few years ago and then Gaye got caught up in the whole business of running a rowing club. She then formed the female parents rowing club which competes as Portora boat club. Her energy is endless, and even after tough shifts on the ambulances of Fermanagh, Gaye is still able to organise the type of events I mention below. All profits go to running our club, and it is no exaggeration to say we wouldn’t be where we are today without her drive. Discos, Strictly Come dancing, sponsorships, Xmas food parcels to Vincent de Paul and the Salvation Army (as part of our link to Enniskillen community) annual balls, and spare clothing to Romania club calendars are just some of the fundraisers Gaye organise with the Parents Support group. We have never had it so good, and we value her contribution very highly. As a footnote to the tragic story on the Shannon yesterday we are reminded of the need for First Aid. Gaye recently organised a CPR and defibrillator course and ancillary lifesaving skills down at the boathouse. We haven’t had to use these skills yet, but they are absolutely essential.
