Katie O’Brien
Katie represents Ireland in the PR2 W1x category. Katie currently rows out of Galway Rowing Club and previously rowed for UCD Rowing Club, while she was studying to become a veterinarian.
In 2022, Katie set a new world record in the PR2 W1x.
Katie placed 5th in the PR2 Mix2x at the 2023 World Rowing Championships alongside Steven McGowan which qualified the boat for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The pair also placed 5th at the 2023 European Championships
Katie won the bronze medal at the 2019 World Rowing Championships in Linz. She has become a huge success in her field and previously finished 6th place in the A Final in the World Rowing Cup in 2013 in Eton. Katie has also won gold at the Henley Women’s Regatta and at the Home International Regatta.
