Irish Provinces Indoor Rowing Competition 2019

18.09.19

Ireland’s indoor rowing season is kicking off with the first IIRC Race series events:

Irish PROVINCES Indoor Rowing Competition 2019

This annual pre-Christmas event will be held on Saturday 23rd November 2019 in the large and airy UL Sports Arena on the sports-oriented University of Limerick Campus

We have 11 new and improved categories to try out:

Senior and Junior Mixed relay teams requiring teams to have 50/50 male/female should create an interesting dynamic that we have not seen before at an Indoors.

To accommodate many athletes that are big on power and short on wind this time of year the 1k will now be open to Junior 16s and 18s along with an Open category.

We’ve been listening to your suggestions too so now the ‘Freshman’ 1k category will be ‘Fresher/Novice’ 1k requiring the competitors to be in their first year of rowing.

And for the first time, we will have a 4 minuteFixed Time’ iROW for male and female rowers with Intellectual Disabilities based on Special Olympics qualification criteria – Certificates will be awarded for participation and we hope to develop this category with the help of its participants and supporters.

Keep an eye on the new software we hope to roll out this PIRC; we’re confident that you’ll be impressed.

Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd & 3rd along with Beanie for 1st place. (Only the 1st place relay team receives medals). However, everyone who completes their races gets to walk away head held high!

iRow Participants will all receive a Certificate of completion.

All the usual Age and weight categories will feature and with 111 of those categories, there’s surely something to suit everyone.

ROWfit continues to support our growing Masters Rowing contingent with the retention of the FISA Masters 1000m Age categories introduced at IIRC 2017.

We will maintain the now ‘expected’ IIRC Race series standard of brand-new ergs on which to race, along with the free-drag and free-rate rule in accordance with international Indoor Rowing standards.

Check out our website www.iirc.ie where you can find schedules, info documents, frequently-asked-questions (and some answers), forms, prices and most importantly where you can REGISTER www.iirc.ie/register.

All clubs should receive posters if they have been receiving them in recent years (if not get in contact and we’ll sort that out).

Entries close 10 days before the event and must be made via the online registration system on http://www.iirc.ie/register/. For group entries download the group entry form or make contact with info@rowfit.ie

Entry fees for group entries must be paid for before racecards are issued. A group entry race pack and individual racecards within will only be released when total paid.

All rowing machines are sold off afterwards. Check out the Sales page on ROWfit.ie where we also offer the complete Concept 2 range of Oars, SkiErgs, BikeErgs and complete servicing options for your rowing needs.

Thanks,

Joe C
