Dear Rowing Community,
It is with regret that we inform you of the cancellation of Neptune Regatta 2021.
The Regatta committee met on Tuesday evening to assess the potential for holding the regatta. Due to the Covid public health restrictions on numbers attending sporting events in Ireland and following analysis of the arrangements necessary to hold a regatta, the committee concluded that it would not be feasible to run a safe and enjoyable regatta. The possibility of running a local Islandbridge regatta was also considered but this option was also considered unviable.
The club will engage with our captain and coaches and with other Dublin based clubs to explore the possibility of local challenge races to provide crews and rowers with competition and racing experience.
We share the frustration of once again having another event cancelled during these unprecedented times.
