Rowing Ireland is delighted to receive a grant from the Dormant Accounts Funding of €40,000 which will support the Get Going…Get Rowing programme.
Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross TD and Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Brendan Griffin TD, today announced an investment package of almost €4.5 million in Dormant Accounts Funding for a wide range of sport and physical activity measures countrywide.
Rowing Ireland’s Development and Women in Sport Manager, Mary Moloney, said, “We are delighted to receive support from the Dormant Accounts Funding. It allows us to introduce rowing and encourage physical activity to so many sections of society that otherwise would not have this opportunity. We love seeing the enjoyment that the Get Going Get Rowing programme brings to these participants in Limerick, Cork, Sligo and other parts of the country while working very closely with the local sports partnerships.”
Sport Ireland will administer the investment. It will aim to engage with communities across the country, focusing on people with disabilities, educationally disadvantaged people and from disadvantaged communities.
Rowing Ireland would like to thank Sport Ireland, Minister Shane Ross, and Minister Brendan Griffin for their continued investment in Irish Rowing.
