Rowing Ireland has released the Return to Rowing Document which has been circulated to all affiliated clubs and stakeholders.
Rowing Ireland’s objective is to get everyone back rowing in a safe environment.
This document was prepared in collaboration with Rowing Ireland’s COVID-19 Working Group and the Safety Advisory Committee.
The Return to Rowing Document is aligned to the Irish Governments Roadmap. It is important to note that this is a working document and could change according to future Government and Sport Ireland guidelines.
Rowing is one of the few sports that will be able to resume on 18th May in the form of single sculling or small boat rowing in from a family unit.
We are awaiting guidelines from the Northern Ireland authorities. This document may be amended in line with these recommendations for our Northern Ireland clubs.
Chief Executive of Rowing Ireland Michelle Carpenter said, “We are delighted that we are one of the first sports that will be allowed back on the water on 18th May 2020. We know the last number of weeks have been challenging for all our members from our High-Performance athletes to people who have just discovered our sport. The fact that single sculling is allowed if members are within the outlined 5km range is a huge plus.
The document prepared as a working document to give something to our clubs to focus on. We are here to support them at this time and will continue over the next number of phases to continue to work with and update clubs with information and research from our key stakeholders”.
