Irish rower Sanita Puspure has secured a scholarship from the Olympic Council of Ireland.
Puspure was one of eight recipients who will receive support as she prepares for Olympic qualification next year.
The Olympic Council of Ireland, in association with the IOC’s Olympic Solidarity programme, announced the successful recipients earlier today, who will share a fund worth over €100,000.
The eight athletes, representing seven different sports, are from all across the country. Chloe & Sam Magee (Badminton mixed doubles): Sanita Puspure (Rowing); Liam Jegou (Slalom canoeing), Bryan Keane (Triathlon), Lisa Kearney (Judo), Andrew Smith (Gymnastics) and Natalya Coyle (Modern Pentathlon).
The scholarship will give the recipients a monthly grant to help them pay for vital training and preparation costs in their quest for qualification for the 2016 Olympic Games which will be held in Rio.
Well done Sanita!
