Rowing Ireland is delighted to announce that we have received €149,000 from the Sport Ireland COVID-19 Grant Scheme. A working group led by Rowing Ireland’s Honorary Treasurer Leo Gibson worked closely to prepare the successful submission which will go towards Rowing Ireland and it clubs to cover extra costs and losses incurred due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport & Media, Catherine Martin TD and Minister of State for Sport and Gaeltacht Affairs, Jack Chambers TD, today announced an €85 million funding package for the Irish sport sector, which has been significantly impacted by the various Covid-19 restrictions imposed since March 2020.

The funding has been allocated by Sport Ireland to address the financial implications that COVID-19 is having on National Governing Bodies and clubs nationwide.

Rowing Ireland would like to thank Sport Ireland, Minister Catherine Martin and Minister Jack Chambers for their continued support of our sport.

Rowing Ireland Funding Breakdown

  • National Governing Body Resilience Fund – €90,000
  • Club Resilience Fund – €32,000
  • Restart & Renewal Fund – €27,000

Clubs that applied for the Resilience Fund will be notified of their application outcomes in due course.
