The National Rowing Centre held the first High Performance Time Trials for 2019 on Saturday 23rd February. Unprecedented weather conditions gave a windy and dull morning to the races, but the Athletes were not put off competing.
Saturday morning saw the invited Athletes race in shortened distances of 3km due to the weather.
A glorious and calmed water saw the afternoon open up for the Athletes with them moving into crew boats for the afternoon 2k races.
The trials have helped distinguish the progress since the last period establishing accountable information using the athletes’ achievements and progression. This overall key information is positive as we move closer towards the final selections.
Sunday’s race was unfortunately cancelled due to a un-race-able weather forecast.
On behalf of Rowing Ireland High Performance we would like to thank all the athletes and their coaches for their patience and help at this weekend’s trials. Well done to all on your performances.
A special mention and thank you to all the volunteers for your help in running the event and to all personnel involved in the preparations.
The next High Performance trial is on the 29th, 30th and 31st of March 2019.
