Vacancy: Administrative Intern

Rowing Ireland is seeking to recruit an intern to assist the staff at the National Rowing Centre during the summer months, and the international regatta season.

The intern will work primarily with the administrative staff, but they will also have the opportunity to work closely with the High Performance staff.

The intern will be based in the National Rowing Centre, Farran Wood, Ovens, Co. Cork.

This internship would be ideally suited to a third-level student, or recent graduate, looking to pursue a career in coaching or sports management.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic sporting organisation with an Olympic focus.

Description:

The intern will gain practical experience in the area of project management and co-ordination, assisting with various activities including the planning of national and international events, as well as providing practical support for High Performance athletes.

The intern will work closely with the administrative staff during the regatta season, offering logistical and administrative support in a wide variety of areas.  The work will vary from week to week, depending on the requirements of the organisation.

The intern will gain valuable work experience in a challenging and rewarding Olympic sporting environment, providing a great stepping stone to a future career in sport.

On completion the intern will have attained skills in the planning and operation of a National Governing Body.

Skills Requirements:

The ideal candidate is a quick learner with an excellent work ethic and strong organisational skills. The following skills are desirable:

  • Communication and people skills
  • Administrative and IT skills (especially Microsoft Office)
  • Time management skills i.e. reliable and punctual, able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to work as part of a team
