Rowing Ireland is thrilled to announce the creation of the Rowing Ireland Youth Commission, an exciting new initiative aimed at empowering young voices and driving the future of our sport.

Purpose of the Youth Commission
The Youth Commission is designed with the following goals in mind:

Provide a Voice:
Establish a platform where young rowers can express their views, share their experiences, and contribute to the ongoing development of rowing in Ireland.

Facilitate Dialogue:
Create a space for discussions on youth involvement, ensuring that the perspectives of younger members are integral to decision-making processes within Rowing Ireland.

Collaborate with Stakeholders:
Work closely with clubs, coaches, and other key stakeholders to integrate youth insights into strategic decisions and operations.

Enhance Participation:
Foster greater youth participation in rowing, encouraging a deeper connection to the sport and ensuring that young rowers feel valued and heard.

Objectives of the Youth Commission
The Youth Commission will focus on several key objectives:

Empower Young Members:
Amplify the voices of young athletes within Rowing Ireland, providing them with opportunities to influence the direction of the sport.

Foster Belonging:
Cultivate a sense of ownership and belonging among youth members, making them an integral part of the Rowing Ireland community.

Strengthen Collaboration:
Enhance communication and collaboration between young rowers and Rowing Ireland leadership, bridging the gap between youth and governance.

Support Growth:
Develop initiatives aimed at supporting the growth and retention of youth rowers, ensuring that the sport continues to thrive for future generations.

Provide Insight:
Offer young members a deeper understanding of Rowing Ireland’s structure, including insights into the Board’s operations and high-performance strategies.

Call for Applications
We are currently seeking 12 enthusiastic young rowers (6 female, 6 male) from affiliated clubs across Ireland to join the Youth Commission. To be eligible, applicants must be registered members of Rowing Ireland. This is a unique opportunity for young athletes to have a direct impact on the future of rowing in Ireland.
