As a consequence of hosting the Schools Regatta this year, Limerick Regatta has had an unprecedentedly large entry. Initial timetabling resulted in racing commencing at 9:00 and finishing at 1:00 the following morning. As a result, the Committee have had to consider how to reduce the regatta to a manageable length. To do so we have taken a number of actions:

  • All masters events have been cancelled with the exception of the eights
  • All single sculls have been cancelled
  • All Senior doubles and pairs have been cancelled

This achieves the necessary reduction in the number of races while impacting the smallest number of athletes.

The committee fully appreciate the disappointment that such actions will cause, particularly considering the cancellation of racing last weekend and this weekend. We do however believe that we have no option as we have an obligation to provide a timetable of events that can be run-off in a reasonable period.

There are no changes to the Schools Regatta. We will publish a timetable for both regattas in the next 24 hours.

For any clubs that have already paid for cancelled events, we will arrange a full refund of any amounts due. Please bear with us as it will probably be after the regatta before we can do this.
