The organising committee of the highly anticipated 1K Irish Rowing Classic, scheduled to take place at the National Rowing Centre, deeply regrets the cancellation of the event due to adverse weather conditions. The safety and well-being of all participants are of paramount importance, and the decision to cancel the event was made after careful consideration of the weather forecast, which predicted gusting winds and thunderstorms during the scheduled time frame.

While we understand the disappointment this cancellation may cause, the safety of our participants is our utmost priority. We appreciate the support and understanding of all the rowing enthusiasts, athletes, and sponsors who were eagerly looking forward to this event. We remain committed to providing an exceptional experience and are actively working to determine a suitable alternative date for the 1k Irish Rowing Classic. The committee is committed to making the rescheduled event an even greater success and looks forward to welcoming everyone back to the National Rowing Centre. They will work with our membership and clubs regarding rescheduling of the event now and are hoping to look at the weekend of 16th September 2023.

We would ask our membership to fill in the attached form regarding their feedback and preference. We are committed to running this event this year and the committee should be commended on doing everything possible to run the event for our membership. We are aware that age groups change on 1st September each year. As previously this will be brought to the board of Rowing Ireland to request a change for this regatta in order to proceed with age groups today on the date of the rescheduled event.

The organising committee would like to express its gratitude to the rowing community, sponsors, volunteers, and all stakeholders for their unwavering support and understanding during this challenging time.
