Sensational racing in tough conditions on the first day of the Irish Rowing Championships nonetheless produced 19 of 2026’s National Champion crews.
As commentator Brian Richardson said, we aren’t used to the sunshine here in Ireland and as the day progressed the haze cleared to beautiful, nearly cloudless sunny skies. One wouldn’t like to complain about them, but certainly it made Day One races a one-off from this year’s rowing calendar, which saw so many cancellations due to adverse weather.
Every race was an achievement for the athletes who competed. In the end, here’s who left with “pots” for their first place finishes:
