“We have received several communications from clubs seeking clarification on whether the 1K Classic will proceed this weekend due to the forecast weather conditions.

Over the past week, the organising committee has been closely monitoring weather forecasts and wind conditions at Lough Rinn. This has included site visits, ongoing observation of conditions, consultation with local knowledge, and review of weather reports from Met Éireann. Following a committee meeting held on Wednesday 16th September, it was agreed that the event will proceed as planned.

Safety remains our highest priority. Throughout the weekend, Committee, Umpires and Safety crews will continuously monitor conditions and make real-time decisions as required.

We appreciate and understand the concerns raised by clubs and welcome the commitment shown to the welfare of athletes.

We look forward to welcoming everyone to Lough Rinn and thank all clubs for their cooperation and support in ensuring a safe and successful event.“

Yours in Rowing,
The 1K Classic Organising Committee
