Recreational rowing plays a vital role within our clubs and communities. It provides opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to stay active, enjoy time on the water, and connect socially- whether they are new to the sport or continuing their rowing journey beyond competition. As highlighted across the sport, recreational rowing emphasises fun, fitness, wellbeing, and inclusivity, with flexible participation and a strong community focus.
Your Voice Matters
To help guide the future direction of recreational rowing in Ireland, the committee is launching a national survey. This is an opportunity for clubs to share their experiences, ideas, and priorities.
We want to better understand:
- How recreational rowing is currently delivered across clubs
- What is working well and where there are opportunities to grow
- Barriers to participation and how they can be addressed
- Ideas for new initiatives, events, and supports
Feedback gathered will directly inform future planning, resources, and supports for clubs nationwide-ensuring that recreational rowing continues to thrive and evolve.

The survey only takes a few minutes to complete, and responses will help shape the future of recreational rowing in Ireland.
