Updates on the October and November HP Trials can be found below, with a full outline of the year to be published shortly.
So that clubs and athletes are aware, this year U19 athletes that are selected for the World Championships will be able to race at the Irish Championships in July. The date for Coupe de la Jeunesse is still to be confirmed but it is likely that athletes selected for this event will also be able to compete at the Irish Championships.
As the U23 World Championships take place two weeks after the Irish Championships, athletes selected for this event will not be in a position to compete at the Irish Championships.
October Trial
An email will be sent out to all coaches on Wednesday with information on the Time Trial taking place on October 19th and 20th .
If there is anyone available to volunteer on the day, please email Clara at clara.obrien@rowingireland.ie.
November Trial
The November trial is also going to be an open event and can be entered by any U19, U23, Senior and Para athletes.
Erg monitoring
Erg monitoring will take place during the week of November 11th to 17th . The testing can take place at any stage during the week, but it must be carried out on two consecutive days following this format:
- 100m + 500m at open rate on the morning of Day 1. A 20-minute break should be taken between the 100m and 500m. Time to be recorded.

Water Trial
The November time-trial will take place at the NRC on the 23rd and 24th of November.
- Athletes and coaches are reminded that this is an open event, and we are looking for athletes with the potential to be selected as part of the World Championship team (Senior, U23, U19 and Adaptive), Coupe de la Jeunesse and the Home Internationals.
- Athletes are invited to attend this time-trial in singles or pairs on both days. The distance of the time-trial will be 6km but will be dependent on weather conditions.
- In some cases, athletes may be asked to move into crew boats on day 2 if deemed appropriate by the HPD. This will be communicated to clubs and individuals after racing on day 1.
Coaches are asked to enter their athletes by 5pm Monday 11th of November by emailing clara.obrien@rowingireland.ie also indicating their category for the 2023 season (Senior, U23, U19 and Adaptive) and the boat class (1x or 2-) to be entered.
