The 2024 World Rowing Masters Regatta, held from September 11–15 in Brandenburg an der Havel, Germany, saw a remarkable display of talent from Irish rowers. With over 600 races across multiple age categories, the regatta featured high-caliber competition, and the Irish contingent delivered outstanding results despite challenging weather conditions that led to Saturday afternoon’s racing being canceled.
One of the standout achievements came from a composite Irish crew that triumphed in both the E and F 8s categories. This powerhouse lineup was a blend of athletes from rowing clubs, including Lee Valley RC, Belfast BC, Galway RC, Shannon RC, Neptune RC, Commercial RC, and Cork BC.

Men’s Events
Irish men’s composite crews dominated several key events, with victories in:
- E8, F8, and G8 categories
- E4- and F4- boat classes
Additionally, Belfast Rowing Club secured a win in the G4+, while Dennis Crowley from Commercial RC added to the Irish tally with a gold in the E1x single scull.
Women’s Events
On the women’s side, Sally Cudmore from Lee RC had a stellar regatta, contributing to victories in the C8, E8, and the C2x boat classes as part of international composite crews.
Clonmel RC also made a mark, winning the WA2x event, further underlining the strength of Irish women’s rowing.
Mixed Events Shine for Athlone RC
In the mixed categories, Athlone RC excelled with international composite crews, winning both the H8 and H2x events, showcasing the versatility and teamwork of their athletes.
The 2024 World Rowing Masters Regatta was filled with intense, high-quality racing, drawing teams from around the world. Nonetheless, Irish rowers made their presence felt, bringing home a haul of medals and reaffirming their strength on the international rowing scene.
