The 2023 Irish Rowing Championships are rolling out this weekend in the National Rowing Centre.

Bringing new aspects to this year’s event we are delighted to be working with a professional production company for the live stream and providing a large screen to make sure that our spectators miss none of the action.

Upstairs in the canteen area this year you will find The Finish Line Café where breakfast, lunch and snacks are available each day.

Ice-cream, donuts and pizza will also be available outside in the spectators area along with the Greenblades Merchandise shop!

Please note that the The Finish Line Cafe will be operating with card only!!

We are monitoring the weather and aim to run the event at full capacity with safety as the main concern. If required, any changes to the race program will be communicated well in advance of racing.

Tremendous work and effort has gone into the preparations of this year’s Irish Rowing Championships” said Rowing Ireland CEO Michelle Carpenter. “We look forward to welcoming everyone to the National Rowing Centre and showcasing the talent within rowing in Ireland across the weekend. A huge thank you is due to our amazing volunteer committee and staff who give so much to the running this event, without you none of this would be possible. We are delighted with the new addictions to this year’s event from the Finish Line Café to the big screen. We hope the weather will cooperate so that everyone will see the full benefit of these additions and the drone footage produced by Upshot Media together with our optimised live results page on our website and on the big screen. Best of luck to all athletes, coaches and clubs who are competing. A big thank you to our sponsors for supporting us and this major event for everyone in Rowing Ireland. We welcome all spectators to come and cheer on Ireland’s top crews at our home in the National Rowing Centre”.

Words from the Championship Chair, Michael Hughes;

The 2023 championships are upon us and the rowers of Ireland are gathering to contest the biggest event in our calendar. A dedicated team of volunteers and RI employees have been working on this event since early in the year.  We are committed to trying to improve the event in some way each year and we have secured the services of a professional drone based video and streaming service for 2023.  A new food service is being launched in the cafeteria at the NRC. We have also procured a large screen to enhance the viewing experience.

All this of course is dependent upon the weather gods who are currently making the first day of racing problematic for the organizing team. We of course trust you will be patient and co-operative if conditions dictate the schedule and reduce the picture quality from the course.

Safety is always a concern and is of primary consequence at all times, no more so than when weather is uncooperative. Please heed and respect the decisions that  may have to be made.

As rowers you have prepared diligently for this event and we are conscious of the standards that we must apply to honour your efforts.  We wish to make this as memorable a weekend as possible for you the athletes, your fellow club personnel and your families who are coming to support you.

I wish to say a special thank you to the cohort of officials and volunteers who turn up in large numbers to put on the show. They do not do it for the pay but to show their dedication to our sport in true Corinthian spirit.

So bon chance, and may success attend your labours.
