This Sunday 31 May, Carlow Regatta will host the fourth event in the Waterways Ireland ‘Row for It League’ at River Barrow, Carlow.

It follows on from last weekend’s competition at Castleconnell Boat Club. They hosted another highly successful regatta at World’s End, with excellent weather and strong participation helping to create a fantastic atmosphere. Clubs from around the country travelled to the Limerick venue, where young athletes in the J13, J14 and J15 coxed quad events enjoyed competitive racing with many athletes experiencing regatta racing for the first time. The now-traditional presentation of winners’ T-shirts once again added to the excitement for younger crews and contributed to a memorable weekend on the Shannon.

As mentioned before, this years competition has a slight change to how the points are given out, which provides an all-round more equal opportunity for clubs to accumulate points. There are 10 points up for grabs at each regatta for a club that wins an event rather than a crew (as previously done), 8 points for 2nd and 6 points for 3rd.
