Rowing Ireland is delighted to announce the selected teams for the 2025 Junior Squad. Congratulations to all the athletes, coaches and clubs involved. Your hard work and commitment have brought you to this point. The standard of junior rowing in Ireland continues to rise each year and it is an exciting time to be part of the sport.
It has been a challenging year for trialling, with several cancellations early in the season due to adverse weather. We appreciate the patience and flexibility shown by athletes, coaches and clubs throughout the process. Looking ahead, we are currently finalising the plans for the 2025–2026 trialling process and will be in contact with all clubs before the new season begins to provide a clear outline of timelines and performance benchmarks.
While most of the squad has now been confirmed, there are still a few final selections to be made. Six junior women will take part in speed testing for the Junior Women’s Four for the World Championships. Athletes who are not selected for the World Championships will instead join the Coupe de la Jeunesse team.
At Cork Regatta, there will be one place available for a Junior Women’s Pair and two places available for Junior Men’s Pairs for the Home International Regatta. These places will be awarded to the fastest crews in the finals who have not already been named in the current squad selection.
Crews who wish to be considered for the final Home International positions must email clara.obrien@rowingireland.ie outlining the junior athletes who are looking to trial. These crews must be entered in the Women’s Division 1 2- or the Men’s Division 1 2- at Cork Regatta. It does not matter which category they enter under and composite crews may enter in the Senior category.
We thank everyone involved for their continued dedication and look forward to an exciting summer of junior international racing.
