The 2025 World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals began today with calm conditions and sunny skies. The day saw seven of the Rowing Ireland crews progressing to the next stages of the competition.
Coastal U19 Men’s Single Scull (CJM1x) | Sean Harte
Sean Harte (Waterford Boat Club) finished 23rd in the first-time trial of the U19 Men’s Single with a time of 02:53.91. Sean will now race in the time trial 2 tomorrow morning, where he will need to place in the top eight to qualify for tomorrow’s knockout round – last 16.

Coastal U19 Women’s Single Scull (CJW1x) | Isabella Monahan
Isabella Monahan (Shandon Boat Club) finished 21st in the first-time trial of the U19 Women’s Single with a time of 03:13.64. Isabella will now race in the time trial 2 tomorrow morning, where she will need to place in the top eight to qualify for tomorrow’s knockout round – last 16.

Coastal U19 Men’s Double Scull (CJM2x) | Luke Nixon & Thomas Sheridan
The U19 Men’s Double of Thomas Sheridan (Sligo Rowing Club) and Luke Nixon (Kilmacsimon Rowing Club) finished 8th in their time trial with a time of 02:43.62. This saw them qualify for this afternoon’s repechage. The crew led at the turning buoy and maintained their lead to see them qualify for tomorrow’s quarterfinal; the quarterfinal will progress to the semifinal and A and B final tomorrow.

Coastal U19 Women’s Double Scull (CJW2x) | Kate Dunne & Gabrielle O’Donoghue
The U19 Women’s Double of Kate Dunne (Wicklow Rowing Club) and Gabrielle O’Donoghue (Rosscarbery Rowing Club) finished ninth in their time trial, which saw them progress to the repechage with the USA, in a close race, they just missed out on the quarterfinal by 1.32 seconds.
Coastal U19 Mixed Double Scull (CJMix2x) | Sean Harte & Isabella Monahan
The U19 Mixed Double of Sean Harte and Isabella Monahan finished 20th in their time trial with a time of 02:51.75, this sees them through to tomorrow’s time trial 2, which will then progress to the last 16 in the afternoon.

Coastal Women’s Single Scull (CW1x) | Sophia Monahan
Sophia Monahan (Shandon Boat Club) finished 26th in the Women’s Single Scull time trial with a time of 03:12.01. She will also race in tomorrow’s time trial 2 where she will need to finish in the top 8 to progress to Saturday’s knockout stage.

Coastal Mixed Coxed Quad (CMix4x+) | Emma Fagan, Donagh Claffey, Isabel O’Byrne, Rian Claffey & David Hussey
The Mixed Coxed Quad finished tenth in their time trial with a time of 02:23.30. They will now race in Saturday’s repechages which progress to Sunday’s knockout stages.

Coastal Mixed Double Scull (CMix2x) | Donagh Claffey & Miriam Sheehan
The Mixed Double Scull of Donagh Claffey (University of Galway Boat Club) and Miriam Sheehan (Castletownbere Rowing Club) finished 28th in their time trial with a time of 02:44.55. They will also now race in the time trial 2 tomorrow morning which progresses to the knockout stages on Saturday.
