An Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of Rowing Ireland was held online on Sunday, 14 December. Over 35 affiliated clubs were represented at the meeting.

The following proposals were considered, with the outcomes outlined below:

Proposal 1
Summary: Amendment to Part 2 of the Rules for Competitive Rowing, Rule 2.19.1 (pages 15–16), to remove the allocation of losing points from all events.
Outcome: Passed (approved by more than 66% of votes cast).

Proposal 2
Summary: Amendment to Part 2 of the Rules for Competitive Rowing, Rule 2.19.1 (page 17), to limit J16–J18 registration points to a maximum of 200.
Outcome: Passed (approved by more than 66% of votes cast).

Proposal 3
Summary: Removal of winning points at regattas.
Outcome: Passed (approved by more than 66% of votes cast).

Proposal 4a
Summary: Extension of the Novice category to two years.
Outcome: Passed (approved by more than 66% of votes cast).

Proposal 4b
Summary: Extension of the Novice category to two years, including an update to points calculations.
Outcome: Passed (approved by more than 66% of votes cast).

Proposal 5
Summary: Limiting the number of Club Championship wins to encourage athlete progression and provide opportunities for new entrants.
Outcome: Defeated (did not achieve the required 66% majority).

Proposal 6
Summary: Restriction on the number of Intermediate Championship wins.
Outcome: Defeated (did not achieve the required 66% majority).

Proposal 7
Summary: Athletes selected for U23 crews to be ineligible to compete in Club Championships.
Outcome: Passed (approved by more than 66% of votes cast).

Proposal 8
Summary: Administrative tidying of disciplinary rules, to align with the Rowing Ireland Complaints and Disciplinary Procedures document and a forthcoming updated version.
Outcome: Defeated (did not achieve the required 66% majority).

Proposal 9
Summary: Administrative clean-up relating to Rule 3.22 (Championship extinction).
Outcome: Passed (approved by more than 66% of votes cast).

Proposal 10
Summary: Administrative clean-up relating to Rule 2.42 (Payment of entry fees).
Outcome: Passed (approved by more than 66% of votes cast).

All approved rule changes will come into effect for the 2026 season. Updates to the official Rule Book will be made in due course.
