The Rowing Ireland Irish Coastal Rowing Championships make their long-awaited return to the coast on 15–16 August 2026 for the first time since Schull 2022.

Hosted by Ballycotton Rowing Club at the spectacular Loughbeg Strand, Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork, the 2026 Championships promise to deliver an unforgettable weekend of racing, competition, and atmosphere.

Loughbeg has already established itself as one of Ireland’s premier coastal rowing venues, having successfully hosted Rowing Ireland High Performance trials and Coastal Beach Sprint regattas in recent years. With its stunning coastal setting and proven ability to deliver world-class racing conditions, it provides the perfect stage for the championship’s eagerly anticipated return to open water after several successful years at the National Rowing Centre.

This year’s event is shaping up to be the biggest and most exciting Coastal Championships to date.

Alongside the traditional championship categories — from U12 boys and girls through to Masters men and women (55+) — the 2026 programme will also introduce a number of exciting new race categories designed to elevate the level of competition, increase participation, and create an even more entertaining spectacle for athletes and spectators alike. Further announcements on these additions will be made in the coming weeks.

The return of several clubs who have not competed at the Championships in recent years, together with the re-affiliation of coastal clubs across the country to Rowing Ireland, will add even greater depth and quality to what is already expected to be an exceptionally competitive event.

As participation continues to grow, so too does the ambition behind the Championships. Rowing Ireland, in partnership with Ballycotton Rowing Club, is committed to delivering a championship experience that surpasses all previous editions. State-of-the-art event technology, including live drone coverage and large spectator viewing screens, will ensure every stroke, turn, and finish can be followed in real time — creating an electric atmosphere throughout the weekend.
