Rowing Ireland’s junior crews delivered a series of strong performances on the European stage this weekend in Germany, showcasing determination, composure and impressive racing across multiple boat classes. Crews secured competitive finishes in both A and B Finals, highlighting the continued strength and depth of junior rowing in Ireland.

Junior Men’s Pair (JM2-)

Mattias Cogan (Skibbereen Rowing Club) and Evan O’Byrne (St Michael’s Rowing Club) finished sixth in the A Final of the Junior Men’s Pair. It was a closely contested race between the crews in fourth, fifth and sixth place, with the Irish pair narrowly missing out to Hungary and Turkey.

Junior Men’s Double Sculls (JM2x)

Sam Wheeler O’Brien (Skibbereen Rowing Club) and Harry McCartney (Methodist College Belfast Rowing Club) claimed victory in the B Final of the Junior Men’s Double Sculls. The crew displayed strong, connected and composed rowing throughout the race, crossing the line three seconds clear of second place to secure seventh overall in Europe.

Junior Women’s Double Sculls (JW2x)

Holly O’Flynn (Skibbereen Rowing Club) and Gaby Nagle (Fermoy Rowing Club) finished second in the B Final of the Junior Women’s Double Sculls. Sitting in third position for much of the race, the duo produced a powerful sprint finish to move into second and challenge for the win, narrowly missing out on first place.

Junior Men’s Four (JM4-)

The Junior Men’s Four of Conal Gillard (Lee Rowing Club), Darragh Collins (Athlone Boat Club), Henrikas Janisionis (Lee Rowing Club) and Emmett Villing (Neptune Rowing Club) finished second in the B Final. The crew delivered a strong and consistent performance throughout the race, maintaining second position from start to finish.
