Rowing Ireland has launched its new Level One Coaching Course for prospective candidates. The course is the second step in Rowing Ireland’s ‘Coaching Pathway’, and its aim is to provide coaches with the skills and knowledge to develop rowers in a safe, enjoyable and progressive way at junior, novice and Intermediate levels in clubs around Ireland. The new programme comes following the success of the previous Introduction to Coaching Course which saw over 200 participants take part in the first 6 months of 2021.

The course will involve seven online sessions with our coach developers, covering topics such as effective communication, nutrition, coaching techniques, and appropriate safety procedures. Additionally, practical sessions will be organised for in-person demonstrations, including two water sessions and one strength and conditioning workshop.

The course amounts to 27 hours of coaching training, accredited with an official Rowing Ireland certification for those who complete it. The level one course will be open to applicants who have completed the introductory course aged over 18.

Sign up is now live, and can be found here. Applicants will need access to a computer with a competent broadband connection.
