It came to our attention due to an IT error, Rowing Ireland representations at International events in 2018 were not recorded. This has thus affected the points of a large number of athletes, who have entered the championships on the assumption that their points were correct.
Due to the number of clubs and athletes that this has affected, it was suggested at tonight’s captain’s meeting that an amnesty should be allowed at the event for those who entered believing their points were correct. The clubs competing at this event overwhelmingly voted against the proposed amnesty.
Further to this, we will now publish the list of all International representations and clubs have the obligation then to determine if their athletes are eligible for their respective events or not. This obviously only impacts Club and Intermediate level events.
Clubs have been advised if they compete with athletes in excess of the allowed points for their event, they face disqualification.
