Rowing Ireland is delighted to announce the election of Jane Williams as our new President, following yesterday’s Annual General Meeting. Jane will serve as President for the 2024-2029 term, bringing with her a wealth of experience both within the rowing community and beyond.
Jane’s rowing journey began as a junior at Clonmel Rowing Club, where she developed a deep passion for the sport. Her love for rowing grew stronger over the years, leading her to play a pivotal role in establishing Dublin University Ladies Boat Club (DULBC), where her leadership and vision laid a solid foundation for future success.
In addition to her extensive background in rowing, Jane holds a Master’s degree in Psychology, which has been a cornerstone of her professional work. She was a key contributor to the Independent Review Group on dignity and equality issues in the Defence Forces, led by Justice Bronagh O’Hanlon, where she played a significant role in shaping critical reforms.
Jane’s expertise in governance is also widely recognised, having worked on governance projects for various sports organisations, including golf and cricket, as well as with Rowing Ireland and Sport Ireland. Her commitment to integrity, leadership, and fostering a positive environment in sport has made her a respected figure across the sporting landscape.
We look forward to the impact her leadership will have over the coming years and wish her every success as she embarks on this exciting new chapter for our organisation. This includes the launch of the Rowing Ireland Strategy 2024-2029 and a new membership system, both of which were outlined at yesterday’s AGM, held in person and online at the Sport Ireland Conference Centre.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Jane and welcome her as our new President.
