Safeguarding legislation in both Northern Ireland and Ireland is based on a clear and consistent set of principles, designed with the common aim of promoting the welfare of young people. Young people have the right to be safe; all coaches should ensure that this fundamental principle takes precedence over all other considerations.

Therefore, any Rowing Ireland member that interacts with any participant under the age of 18 must complete a Safeguarding Course.

Rowing Ireland offers online Safeguarding One training through a Sport Ireland accredited Tutor. These three hour workshops are usually held midweek, 6 – 9PM and cost €15. This certification is valid for 3 years.

The January courses are now full, but we are taking bookings for courses in February. If you need to take this workshop, please register through the website here: https://www.rowingireland.ie/safeguarding/

If you have already done your Safeguarding Course but it has expired ( after 3 years) you can complete a refresher online at no cost through this link: https://www.sportireland.ie/ethics/safeguarding-1-online-refresher
