The program was mainly delivered through a series of online interactive sessions and was aimed at women who want to be or are already in leadership/club committee roles within their clubs. It aims to empower women to take on leadership roles within the rowing community and support the development of those already on their leadership journey. The programme is in collaboration with Golf Ireland and Hockey Ireland, which gives participants the opportunity to network with other aspiring leaders within the sports industry.
The programme is facilitated by Sarah O’ Shea and Lisa Clancy, both powerhouses in their respective roles and ideal role models for aspiring leaders in the sport sector. The course has seen over 300 women take part since its commencement in 2020 and many of the course graduates have gone on to chair committees, get jobs in sport, be elected to board positions, be elected to European sport committees and a range of other local and national successes. Participants are exposed to a variety of educational modules regarding governance and leadership in sport as well as real life scenarios that will equip them to reach their potential as club committee members, branch members, board members or any other leadership position within the Rowing Ireland leadership structure.
