Rowing Ireland received €100,000 from Sport Ireland for Covid-19 Grant Scheme Funding for clubs.

Every club that applied for the grant has received an allocation of the grant and has been contacted by Rowing Ireland.

Rowing Ireland’s Chief Executive Officer, Michelle Carpenter, said, “We are pleased that our clubs have received the COVID-19 resilience funding from Sport Ireland to support our clubs after this challenging period over the last years.

It is a great relief for us all to see clubs coming out of the pandemic, and events starting to take place. We can now look forward to the future. I want to thank Sport Ireland, Sport NI and the Department tourism, culture, arts, gaeltacht, sport and media for their continued support.

All those that were eligible and applied for the grant will benefit from the allocation of €100,000 that Rowing Ireland received and they will receive letters to confirm this today.

Rowing Ireland’s Learning and Development Lead Pat Kiely said, “Thank you to Sport Ireland and the Government for their continued support of our sport and, importantly, our clubs during the pandemic.

Like other sports, our clubs have struggled to keep going with restrictions that led to the loss of income and the ability to create revenue.

The financial support from these grants will give our clubs assistance and a renewed confidence that their doors will remain open to continue the growth of our sport in Ireland.”
