Rowing Ireland Women in Coaching Webinar with Laryssa Biesnthal

Laryssa is a decorated athlete and coach. She represented Canada at the 1996 Atlanta and 2000 Sydney Olympic Games where, in both cases, she earned bronze medals. As a coach, she has worked with crews at high school, university, World Championship, and Olympic (for both Canada and Australia) levels. Her coaching success includes World Championship and World Cup medals, and Olympic Games finals. With this experience and her Level 4 Canadian National Coaching Certification we have plenty to learn from Laryssa.

Rowing Ireland Women in Coaching Webinar with Neasa Russell

Neasa hails from Galway, having rowed with the Jes and NUIG. She spent 7 years as a club coach for the Jes, before taking the jump into professional coaching. She worked for two years as an apprentice coach under Harold Jarling and then moved to the UK as a coach on GB Rowing Team’s World Class Start programme.

After several successful years with the programme she then changed tack and became a Performance Pathway Scientist with UK Sport/English Institute of Sport, working with a breadth of Olympic/Paralympic sports and supporting the design and development of talent id campaigns (Discover Your Gold) and athlete pathways.

Neasa is currently the Head of Talent Development at Sport England.
