The Masters come to Glenarm!

Saturday, 4th May 2024, will see over 200 rowers from 21 rowing clubs located all over Ireland and the UK descend on Glenarm for the 2nd Swift Racing Irish Master’s Coastal Championships.

This is the second year the event has been hosted by Olderfleet Rowing Club and based in Glenarm. After a successful launch in 2023 it is expected that the 2024 regatta will be even bigger and better than before.

Events will see a range of Master rowers (age 35+) compete in single, double and quad events with men, women and mixed teams taking part.

Junior rowers will also be included with crews from under 14, 16 and 18 all competing against one another for a coveted Olderfleet medal.

What makes this even more special is the fact that teams from Jersey, Donegal, Cork and even Fishguard in Wales will be coming to compete against top tier crews.

Rowing Ireland, Director of Coastal Rowing, David Hussey said …

“Olderfleet RC have been instrumental in pioneering the growth of Coastal rowing in the North of Ireland. The second year of hosting the Irish Masters Coastal Championships sees that growth consolidated with the development of masters 40 and 50 categories and also in tandem continuing to promote junior racing in the North of Ireland. Rowing Ireland is fully supportive of the advances made and looks forward to working in partnership with Olderfleet RC on this journey of inclusion and innovation in the sport of Coastal Rowing.”

A huge thank you goes to all the event sponsors. Without the support of the local businesses mentioned below, it would not be possible to host this event.

So why not come down to Glenarm on Saturday 4th May 2024 and see all of the action unfold before your very eyes! It will be worth the trip!!
