The 2026 University Championships took place under sunny skies on Saturday morning 18 April, with blustery conditions opening the first 1000 metres. Despite the challenging breeze, spirits were high as the first regatta of the season got underway.
Crews from seven universities across the island came together to compete in the 8s races.
University College Dublin (UCD) claimed both the Men’s Trophy, the Wylie Cup and the inaugural Mixed Senior & Mixed Novices 8s. The Bank of Ireland Cup was won by Dublin University Ladies Boat Club (DULBC). In the Club 8s categories, Queen’s University Belfast Ladies Boat Club (QUBLBC) and Queen’s University Belfast Boat Club (QUBBC) took the Women’s and Men’s titles respectively.
The championships showcased the depth of talent in university rowing across the country and is a testament to the hard work and dedication of student-athletes who took part.
