Rowing Ireland is currently recruiting for a new Northern Ireland Get Rowing Coach / Regional Coordinator to join our dedicated team. The Role
Reporting to the Rowing Ireland Get Going Get Rowing Manager, the NI Coordinator will play a significant role in driving the growth and development of the Get Going Get Rowing programme in schools and communities across Northern Ireland.
Responsibilities
Indoor Rowing Participation Programmes:
- Ensure smooth delivery of all current indoor rowing programmes in NI
- Explore new opportunities with club hubs or programmes that can be piloted in the Belfast area, with a view to expansion across NI.
- Expand the Get Going Get Rowing programme in Northern Ireland into secondary schools, using club hubs and/or the current asset registry of rowing machines.
- Identify opportunities to grow income with these participation programmes with a view to reinvesting that income into programme delivery.
Scheduling:
- Link in with Queens University Pathway Coordinator, NI Branch and Sport NI for referrals to potential schools
- Liaise with schools to schedule classes
- Liaise with local club hubs to confirm availability for delivery of classes
- Schedule coaches for classes, based on their availability
- Complete and communicate scheduling with coaches before class starts
Asset Management:
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory and manage the asset schedule of rowing machines in NI
- Coordinate movement of ergs to meet schedule of classes, including booking a van, when necessary, to transport machines
- Coordinate maintenance and repair of rowing machines
Rowing Ireland and Sport NI updates:
- Compile regular updates for Sport NI and the Get Going Get Rowing Manager
- Communicate frequently with Get Going Get Rowing Manager
- Prepare ad hoc updates as required
Calendar Management:
- Manage and ensure enough resources (coaches and machines) to deliver programmes in identified schools
- Plan and staff rowing camps (if applicable)
Camp Management (if applicable):
- Plan and schedule staff for Learn to Row camps during summer and school breaks
- Handle administration of camps – including communications with campers, parents, coaches, and host clubs
- Manage payment systems for campers, staff, and clubs
Coaching:
- Deliver programmes when coaches are unavailable
- Make and deliver certificates for those students who earn them
Rowing Coaches:
- Manage all communications with Get Rowing coaches in NI
- Ensure all coaches are properly qualified, or coordinate such, according to Rowing Ireland standards for indoor and on-the-water rowing coaches
Event Management (including On the Water sessions):
- Organise and ensure smooth delivery of indoor rowing blitz events for primary and secondary schools, including online registration, venue securing and set-up, availability of rowing machines, etc.
- Link with Sport NI to communicate dates, venues, etc.
- Coordinate and deliver on the water sessions in Belfast and if possible, at other clubs across Northern Ireland. This will also involve ensuring coaches’ availability to travel to selected venues to assist in delivering On the Water classes
Budget:
- Monitor coaching hours and ensure that timesheets and expenses accurately reflect coaching services delivered
- Invoice schools and clubs for services delivered, working closely with the Rowing Ireland Finance Officer
- Manage income and cost budget for delivery of Get Going Get Rowing (and all associated) programmes in NI
Marketing & sponsorship:
- Research, organise, and, where appropriate, deliver relevant seminars/workshops for coaches, teachers, and any other stakeholders
- Prepare regular press releases on upcoming events and successful achievements
- Assist Get Going Get Rowing with social media communications and planning
- Contribute regularly to Get Rowing social media platforms
- Update Get Going Get Rowing website when necessary and liaise with Rowing Ireland branding and communications
Health and Safety Management:
- Work with Get Going Get Rowing Manager to ensure all delivery adheres to best practice in health and safety
- Record any accidents and/or incidents and assist with investigation of same
- Communicate all results and recommendations arising from investigation of incidents/accidents
- Ensure that all activities undertaken as an officer of Rowing Ireland are in line with appropriate codes and legislation
Additional Information:
- The Role is a full time role of 39 hours per week.
- The Potential Candidate must own their own vehicle and have a current clean driving license.
- The Potential Candidate must be permitted to work in Northern Ireland
- The Potential Candidate will be required to be vetted by Rowing ireland
