Athlone Regatta

The annual Athlone Regatta took place this weekend in Coosan Point, Athlone. It was an early start for the athletes and volunteers, with the first race being set off at 8am which was the mens j16 4x+. The regatta ran over 130 straight final races throughout the day, finishing with the mixed masters 4x+ at 6pm. The Regatta ran seamlessly thanks to the volunteers at Athlone Boat Club who donated their weekend to run a successful regatta.

Henley Women’s Regatta

Over the weekend many Irish crews travelled to Henley, England to race in the Henley Women’s Regatta. First up over the weekend was the time trial on Friday, followed by the semi finals on Saturday and the finals Sunday. There was a strong showing from the Irish crews with Shandon Boat Club, Shannon Rowing Club, UCD Boat Club, Queens University Boat Club and University of Galway boat club all making the trip across the pond for the event. The Irish boats saw success in the time trials with many of the crews qualifying for Saturday’s races.

Up next is Cork Regatta taking place this Saturday and Sunday.
