The 2022/23 cohort of Women’s Student Coaching Academy have been selected by Student Sport Ireland. Rowing Ireland is delighted to announce our coaches.

The aim of the academy is to provide female student coaches with the support system that will enable them to develop and reach their coaching potential. Furthermore, the academy aims to increase the number, and visibility, of female coaches in third level institutions and create female role models for other female students to progress into coaching.

The Women’s Student Coaching Academy is a collaborative programme between SSI, Sport Ireland, third-level institutions and eleven sporting National Governing Bodies (NGBs). The programme is supported through the Women In Sport fund.

Throughout the year, the female student coaches will coach a team or athlete, while working alongside a mentor coach. They will also undertake a coaching course with their NGB, keep a weekly journal to track their coaching journey, and attend workshops offered by SSI. During this time they will also network and learn from coaches across all the other NGB’s taking part.

The two coaches selected from Rowing Ireland are Clara McClements (Queens University Belfast) and Jennifer Crowley (University College Cork).

Congratulations to both coaches and wishing them the best on their academy coaching journey.
