The 2026 Waterways Ireland ‘Row for It’ League starts this weekend taking place at Erne HOR with the Women’s J15 8x+, Women’s J14 8x+, Men’s J15 8x+ & Men’s J14 8x+ kicking off the league (with their points gathered in that head going towards the 4x+ in those clubs).
Clubs will be represented this weekend in those races from Colaiste Iognaid, Enniskillen, Methodist, St. Michaels, St. Josephs & Athlone.
This years competition will see a slight change to how the points are given out providing an all round more equal opportunity for clubs to accumulate points:
This year there are 10 points up for grabs at each regatta for a club that wins an event rather than a crew (as previously done), 8 points for 2nd and 6 points for 3rd.
This stops multiple crews winning points in a category for 1 club and equals the playing field for clubs of all sizes.
An Example of it is below:
So in Mens J15 4x at Limerick Regatta for instance, if Club A won 3 races they only get 10 points
If Club B has a 1st in one race and a 2nd in another race they only get 10 points
If Club C had a 2nd and a 3rd in different races they only get 8 points
If Club D had 2 x 3rds they only get 6 points.
We look forward to this weekend where the drama begins and we would like to thank Enniskillen along with Limerick, Athlone, Carlow and Carrick for facilitating the running of league and to Waterways Ireland for their continued support. Reminder to all participants that crews who win a race at this events can collect their winners tees from the host club at the end of the races.
